America - Can You Handle The Truth?

American Revolutionary War Flag
THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Patrick Henry is famous for penning the great American Revolutionary motto: 'Give me Liberty, or give me death.' He is revered as one of our greatest founding fathers for this, but Patrick Henry also gave us a warning. He warned us about the excessive dangers of abandoning America's original government -- The Articles of Confederation -- for a national Constitution that centralised and consolidated power in what would eventually become Washington DC. If you call yourself an American, you MUST read Patrick Henry's warning, and ask yourself, did he not predict everything that would happen 224 years in advance???
(Constitution.Org) -- The Confederation, this despised government [Articles of Confederation], merits, in my opinion, the highest encomium -- it carried us through a long and dangerous war; it rendered us victorious in that bloody conflict with a powerful nation; it has secured us a territory greater than any European monarch possesses -- and shall a government which has been thus strong and vigorous, be accused of imbecility, and abandoned for want of energy? Consider what you are about to do before you part with the government. Take longer time in reckoning things; revolutions like this have happened in almost every country in Europe; similar examples are to be found in ancient Greece and ancient Rome -- instances of the people losing their liberty by their own carelessness and the ambition of a few. We are cautioned ... against faction and turbulence. I acknowledge that licentiousness is dangerous, and that it ought to be provided against. I acknowledge, also, the new form of government [The Constitution] may effectually prevent it. Yet there is another thing it will as effectually do -- it will oppress and ruin the people....

Patrick Henry, Virginia 1788
Most American's do not know their own history, nor do they stop and consider that the government that fought for independence from the British Empire was disbanded within seven years after attaining that independence.  What replaced it was the Constitution of the United States of America, a much more centralised and consolidated federal republic.

On the political Right of American politics today are those who enshrine the Constitution as Holy Writ.  Some will literally say they believe it to be a divinely inspired document on par with the Bible.  They believe the Constitution is our sacred founding document, that there was no 'America' prior to it, and that everything that is good about America flows from it.  They are strict constructionists, consistent with their point of view, believing the Constitution never changes, and must be followed and obeyed by both the government and the people.

On the political Left of American politics today are those who believe the Constitution is a 'living and breathing' document, again, a different way of interpreting Holy Writ, meaning something new to each successive generation.  It is a document that is flexible, able to be moulded and applied to fit the needs of the day.

Both the political Left and political Right of American politics are religious zealots, but each in their own way, with their approach to the Constitution mirroring their approach to the Bible, or whatever other scriptures they hold as sacred, if any.  Can there ever be a reconciliation between them?  No.  Never.   They will forever hold each other in enmity.  For religious zeal is their driving principle.

I submit to you here that both are wrong.  Both have made a critical error in reason.  Both have consigned themselves in perpetual conflict which can only result in the destruction of the nation they both hold dear.  Both must repent of their wicked religious zeal for a man-made secular document.  'The Catholic Knight' is about to call a spade a spade, and say something that is sure to make both the political Right and the political Left a little uncomfortable...

THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES IS NOT DIVINELY INSPIRED.

Get that through your thick skulls now before it's too late!  When was the last time you read the U.S. Constitution anyway?  Is it not this same Constitution that originally denied women's suffrage, enshrined slavery into federal law, and counted a slave as three-fifths of a person?  Well, I suppose three-fifths of a person is better than half a person, or no person at all, but still, does this sound divinely inspired to you?  Maybe it depends on the kind of divinity you worship.  I don't know about you, but I worship the Holy Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - who teaches through his Holy Catholic Church that rights come from God, that women have the same legal rights as men, and a slave is just as much of a person as a freeman.  Maybe you disagree with my interpretation of the U.S. Constitution here.  That's fine, since neither you nor I have the authority to interpret it anyway.  That authority is reserved explicitly for the United States Supreme Court.  You know, that same Supreme Court that gave us the Dred Scott decision, 'Separate but Equal' racial segregation, the banning of prayer in public schools, and of course Roe v. Wade.  The Constitution makes it clear that only the Supreme Court has the right to interpret it authoritatively, and this is how the Supreme Court has interpreted it.  Divinely inspired?  I think not.

I submit to you here that both the political Left and the Right are wrong in America.  Both are guilty of idolatry.  Both have ascribed too much to a secular document that many of America's founders opposed.  Maybe it's time Americans take a second look at the Articles of Confederation, imperfect as that document is, it nevertheless enshrines some of the principles of a truly free and equitable Union between states, wherein the states may govern themselves and solve their own problems, without interference from 'Uncle Sam' and an all-powerful federal government.  Maybe Patrick Henry and the Anti-Federalists were right.  Maybe after 224 years Americans may come to see the prophecy of Patrick Henry came true, and our own federal government (which our Constitution creates) has become our own worst enemy, a nemesis rivalling that of King George III.  Maybe, just maybe, Americans will finally wake up and realise that we have become slaves to an instrument of our founders' own making.  Maybe, just maybe, Americans will once again realise that America and The Constitution are not synonymous, that they are not one in the same, that Americans lived without it before 1789, and indeed gained our independence from England without it.  Maybe, Americans will finally remember that the men who fought the American Revolutionary War never heard of a U.S. Constitution, and those who survived wouldn't hear of it for some time.  Maybe, just maybe, Americans will stop idolising a document that is enslaving us to a federal government that WILL NEVER STOP GROWING until it has consumed everything there is and left us with nothing.  Maybe, just maybe, Americans will finally WAKE UP and understand that true freedom in our Union can only be realised when states are given the ability to govern themselves, solve their own problems, and let people vote with their feet which system is best.  Maybe, just maybe, this 224 year experiment in federal tyranny will finally come to an end, and the people of the states will rise up to the occasion and save us from the brink of our own self-destruction.  Maybe just maybe.  Then again, maybe not.

ALERT! Big Prophecy Update For USA Coming Soon!

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: A big prophecy update will be forthcoming in this place very soon. I've not written it yet, so please pray for me on this. But I can tell you this right now. It has to do with the connections between Akita, Fatima, Lourdes and Champion, focusing particularly on what our Lord and Lady have to say to the USA through the events at Champion in the context of Akita, Fatima and Lourdes.

----

As a side note to those of you who have been praying for my father. I've not given an update till now since it appeared that there was nothing new to report. However, in recent days I've learned of a possible resolution to his income problem. It is still unknown what the final outcome will be, so it's too early to send a praise report, but it does appear that your prayers for my father are having some kind of potentially positive effect. I ask for your continual prayers at this difficult time. Thank you all for everything you've done so far.

In Christ,

TCK

Right Of Return - Southerners Come Home

Obama is not the first Caesar to rule America, and he may not be the last either.
THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: I have run all the numbers for the 2012 election, and now with a fair degree of confidence, I think I can safely say two things...
  1. Mitt Romney will be the Republican nominee for President of the United States.  Rick Santorum's strategy of stealing enough delegates away from Romney to cause a brokered G.O.P. convention will not work.  His window of opportunity closed yesterday.  He's a lame duck candidate now.
  2. In a head-to-head battle between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama, Mitt Romney loses hands down.  He does not energise the base of the party.  Primary voter turnout numbers are dropping by the week as it becomes more apparent that he will be the nominee.  A socially conservative Romney is viewed as a fraud by the Christian right.  It's over.  Mitt Romney will not (indeed cannot) win.  This means Barack Obama will be re-elected, and we can look forward to another four years of him in the Whitehouse.
So as we prepare for another four years of Obama, the question begs to be asked: "What now?"

The United States is about to go into a period of 'heavy executive oversight' -- i.e. dictatorship.  Fortunately, it looks like this particular dictator -- Obama -- is just a temporary one.  He will hand his seat over to another in Janurary of 2017, but that one will be a dictator too.  This dictatorship period is inevitable and predictable.  Not to worry.  People live under dictatorships all over the world, and some of them live fairly well.  Americans will too.  This however, is the final gasp of the American empire before it crumbles.  When it does crumble, it should happen rather quickly, considering how much federal debt Washington DC has accrued.  The fall of the American empire will be primarily over money, but I would expect a botched foreign war to play into this as well, sucking what little there is left out of the coffers.  We are going the way of the ancient Roman empire.

Within our lifetimes, perhaps sooner than we think, the secession movements in the United States will gain steam and become quite credible.  It is not likely they will move to secede while the American empire is still standing, but as soon as Washington DC loses its grip on things, look for these secession movements to spring into action, taking the lion's share of political attention.   So my question to you is this.  WHEN these secession movements gain steam, and it looks like the former United States is about to be broken up, where do you want to be???  What region of the continent do you think you would do well in?

There are multiple peaceful secession movements across the United States, however the one I am particularly interested in is the American South (Dixieland).  The time has come for all of the sons and daughters of the South, and their descendants, who now live in other parts of the United States, to come home.  When the American empire crumbles, you don't want to be caught in an area where the culture is not your own.  If you're a Southerner by culture, then you know who you are.  You want to be in an area that is ready and eager to rebuild according to the Christian culture and values you hold dear.  Start getting your things in order.  It's time to move back home.

If you're neither a Southerner, nor descended from the South, but you share the values of the Southern people -- Faith, Family and Christian Culture -- then you may want to consider a relocation to the South (Dixie).  Catholicism is growing at a rapid rate in the South.  In fact, it's the only part of the United States where dioceses are building parishes and schools instead of closing them down.  You will also be pleased to know that the Southern states of Dixie are still vigorously fighting gay-marriage, while many states in the North and West have given in to it.  My home state of Missouri has passed a constitutional amendment banning gay-marriage outright.  Many other Southern states have done the same.  This makes the South more hospitable to Catholic Charities while other states in the North and West are causing them to shut down.  Homeschooling is protected in the South as well, encouraging family-based traditional education.  Housing is very affordable and so is Catholic school tuition.  The only advice I would give you is this.  When you come to live here, leave your Northern and Western mentalities behind.  With a little help, you will assimilate into this region easily, and you'll be glad you did.

St. Joseph, patron of home sellers, pray for us all!

Catholicism Is The Fastest Growing Religion In Dixie

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: More evidence is mounting that the American South (Dixieland) is becoming the fastest growing region for Catholicism in the United States (read more here, here and here).  One hallmark of 'Southern Catholicism' is its more traditional character. Southern Catholics are far more likely, than their counterparts in other regions of the United States, to believe what the Catholic Church teaches and attempt to practice it. Furthermore, Southern Catholics have a growing interest in the more traditional liturgical aspects of the faith, including Latin hymns, incense, ad orientem, and kneeling for communion. In addition, there is a growing interest in traditional headcovering among Catholic women in the South. Now with this growth we are beginning to see the building of new seminaries...
(CNA/EWTN News).- A community of cloistered nuns and a future regional seminary plan to occupy newly purchased property in Cleveland County, N.C., to serve a flourishing Catholic population.

The Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration and the Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Te Deum Foundation will acquire 484 acres valued at $2.9 million in Mooresboro, which is about 60 miles west of Charlotte.

“Most seminaries only teach how to close parishes, cluster parishes, and how to administer to several parishes in light of dwindling numbers of Catholics,” the foundation said on their website. “Praise be to God that this is not a problem in the South!”

The planned seminary, for which 151 acres have been set aside, will be the only one in Georgia, Florida and North and South Carolina, the Catholic News Herald reported. Seminarians from the Diocese of Charlotte currently attend seminaries in Maryland, Ohio and Rome....

It should not be surprising then that with this growth of Catholic population in the South, we are also seeing a surge of Catholics into the Southern Nationalist Movement. In fact, Catholics make up a sizeable portion of the leadership in this movement. You can read more here.

Another Santorum Reality Check

Rick Santorum
THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: I know many of my readers are rooting for Rick Santorum. I've pointed out the problems with Santorum here on this blog, but I realise he is no worse than Obama on many issues, so it's pretty much a wash. Santorum's appeal to many conservative Catholics and Evangelicals is almost exclusively along social issues. The purpose of this post is not to debate the merits of Santorum's candidacy. The purpose of this post is to introduce a healthy dose of reality to the conversation.

The fact is, it is a statistical impossibility for Rick Santorum to gain enough delegates to win the GOP nomination. Santorum's ONLY shot is to deprive Romney of enough delegates to force a brokered convention. A lot of that chance will likely evaporate today as it is suspected that Santorum will lose Illinois to Romney. Illinois is a 'must-win state' for Santorum, and it doesn't look like that is going to happen. The nomination is Mitt Romney's to lose. So if he just plays his cards right, he will win the nomination.

Mitt Romney is an unexciting candidate to say the least.  He is an undeniable Pro-Life fraud.  He has a favourable record toward gay-marriage.  It will be difficult to motivate Christian Republicans to turn out to the polls to vote for him.  When it comes to Romney, only hatred for Obama, and disdain for Obama alone, can garner enough GOP votes to give Obama a serious challenge in November.   Will such negativity be enough to propel Romney into the Whitehouse.  I doubt it.  As a result, The Catholic Knight is preparing his family for another four years of the Obama administration.

Typical Anti-Dixie Propaganda

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT:  I saw the preview trailer for this film and I was speechless.  I didn't know whether to be offended, or laugh, or what?  I was just speechless.  The whole concept is just so ridiculous.  It's almost like a joke -- right? -- it is a joke?  Isn't it???  No, they can't be serious.

Ah, but they were serious.  The whole Civil War conflict has been rewritten into a Hollywood vampire film.  Yes, seriously... vampires.

It's called 'Abraham Lincoln - Vampire Hunter' and I'm sure you can guess who the vampires are.  That's right - my ancestors - the Southerners.  I suppose of this were a low-budget 'B' film I would probably just laugh it off.  However, it looks like somebody put a lot of money into this.

Now I'm not into the vampire thing.  I honestly don't find anything that entertaining about people behaving as blood-sucking leaches, but hey, to each his own I guess.

In America it seems there are only two acceptable prejudices any more.  The first is against practising Catholics of course.  The second is against people of Southern heritage.  Folks like me just get a double dose I suppose.  Still, I wonder if the vampires in this film were black slaves how the NAACP would look at that.  If they were Jews, I wonder what the Anti-Defamation League would say.  If they were Native Americans, I would be curious to see the tribal responses.

In America today, we live in a culture where the South is so wrongfully maligned, so incredibly slandered, that turning our Southern ancestors into blood-sucking vampires is viewed as perfectly acceptable for Hollywood entertainment.  I post this strictly for my international readers, so you can see first hand just how debased, ignorant, insensitive and downright hateful (not to mention stupid) the prevailing Yankee culture has become in the United States.

Maybe Catholics Should Just Stop Voting

(Ethika Politika) - What then is the best Catholic strategy for the present? In 2004 I wrote an article for New Oxford Review arguing that if we Catholics really wanted to have an impact on U.S. politics, the best means would be a strategy selectively to abstain from voting, so as to serve notice to politicians that until they come to us with a platform reasonably in comformity with the entire range of Catholic teaching, they could not expect our votes. Play hard to get and let them come courting, I argued. There are enough of us so that we should make them earn our votes, not run after one politician or the other who mouths agreement with Catholic teaching on this or that issue.
Is this still our best hope for influencing American politics? Much depends, I think, on whether any of the current legal or political efforts to overturn the administration’s health care mandate will succeed. If they do not, if there are not enough active and faithful Catholics to make this politically feasible, then perhaps the best strategy for the Church is to forget about electoral politics entirely for the time being and simply preach the whole Gospel, both those parts that resonate with the left and those that resonate with the right. After all, was this not the mission given to the Church at her origins? In any case, no compromise with either political bloc will serve the interests of the Church in the long runs, interests which are ultimately not of this world anyway, but simply the sanctification and salvation of souls....

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: In the upcoming presidential election, I am going to propose the following.  Since the GOP race now seems to be solely between Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney, I am going to say that Mr. Santorum is worth a try, in spite of his short comings, because he may be influenced by his Catholic faith just enough to do the right things while in office.  In other words, it may be worth giving another Catholic a crack at the Whitehouse just to see what happens.

Now I want to clarify. Rick Santorum is probably one of the worst anti-liberty candidates in the Republican primaries. He is the political antithesis of everything every freedom-loving Southerner stands for. However, in comparison to Obama on that issue, he is no worse, so when it comes to freedom, a race between Santorum and Obama is a wash. We pretty much break even. The only thing that's worth a darn about Santorum is his Pro-Life position, coupled with the fact that he (as a supposedly conservative Catholic) will have his feet held to the fire on that one. If he takes the dictator-in-cheif position in favour of the unborn, than perhaps an ounce of good can come from his administration. Though I'm sure it will be short-lived. Just as soon as a Democrat regains the Whitehouse, after his 'reign,' all the benefits will be lost.

Another 'good' Rick Santorum might accomplish is to finally decouple freedom-loving Southerners from the Republican Party. Right now people associate the Republican Party with the TEA Party and conservatism. A Santorum administration would once and for all put an end to the notion that constitutional restraint can be realised within the Republican Party. The G.O.P. is the author of American dictatorship through its infamous hero -- Abraham Lincoln.

If however, Mitt Romney wins the GOP nomination, I am going to say that we have no truly Pro-Life candidate running for president this year.

Without a truly Pro-Life candidate in the race, I think it might be wise to not vote for president, or vote third-party, or do whatever it takes to rob both the Democrats and Republicans of our vote entirely.

Maybe in the absence of any real political solution, this is the only answer. Maybe we should just stop voting, perhaps limiting our participation to state and local politics if we vote at all, until the national political parties start courting us again. Your thoughts?

Ozark Heritage: Laura Ingalls Wilder

The 'Little House' of Laura Ingalls Wilder in Mansfield Missouri
Nestled in the heart of the Ozark Mountains
Some of her 'Little House' books were penned here.
Laura Elizabeth Ingalls Wilder
(February 7, 1867 – February 10, 1957)
THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Many of my readers, including my international audience, may be familiar with the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. They have been printed in many languages around the world. For those of you not familiar, Laura Ingalls Wilder was a pioneer child during the later half of the 19th century in the Midwestern to Upper Central United States. She was born in 1867 Wisconsin, just two years after the conclusion of the great Civil War that ravaged the American South. She was the second of five children born to Charles and Caroline Ingalls. The family originally moved to Kansas on the government promise of free land (The Homestead Act). They later moved to Minnesota, spent a brief time in Iowa, and finally back to Minnesota again, where Charles and Caroline lived the remainder of their lives. Laura eventually married Almanzo Wilder and moved to Mansfield Missouri down south of the Mason-Dixon line. It was here she eventually wrote her memoirs as a series of children's books commonly known as the 'Little House on the Prairie' collection.

The 'Rock House' English Cottage
Built by Rose Wilder for her Parents
Some 'little house' books were penned here.
During the time of Laura's childhood, tens of thousands of Americans migrated westward from the war-torn nation, motivated by the promise that if they could just settle a portion of land west of a certain government-drawn line, they would be granted full ownership of that land free of charge. It was the way in which America rebuilt herself after the Civil War and gave new hope to poor families who had nothing financially to lose. Thousands of American families travelled west on horse-drawn covered wagons with all their possessions inside (which usually didn't amount to much). Upon finding a suitable plot of land, the wagon was unloaded, and a small cabin was immediately built, usually using lumber harvested from nearby trees. Within a year, a small farm was usually planted, and the family would hope and pray for a successful crop. If the Lord blessed them, they would usually gain enough money to survive another year. If not, they suffered all the hardships of poverty, starvation and disease. Many of these settlers died on their homesteads. Many more returned back east for medical attention, hoping to get back to their homestead before it was torn down and re-settled by somebody else. Encounters (sometimes unfriendly) were common with Native American tribes.  Some settlers were highly successful, but most were modestly successful. The Ingalls family numbered among the modestly successful, with some setbacks and tragedies here and there. Their only son (Charles Fredrick) died in infancy. Their oldest daughter (Mary Amelia) went permanently blind after a bout with scarlet fever. Laura's husband Almanzo suffered from paralysis after they both contracted diphtheria while Laura was pregnant with her first child Rose Wilder. While all three survived the illness, Almanzo required a cane for the rest of his life and was unable to tolerate hard labour. This caused Laura and Almanzo's downward spiral into poverty and debt in Minnesota, eventually leading to their move to Southwest Missouri, a warmer area well-settled and civilised since long before the Civil War. Since this area was still considered "out west" the land was cheaper than east of the Mississippi, and the Civil War had been less devastating to Missouri than other regions down South. It made a much more tolerable climate for the couple to raise their small child, Rose, and was still close enough for the Ingalls and Wilder families to visit from time to time.

her the mule to ride to school, but Rose
reported that it was so stubborn she ended
up walking it to school most of the time.
Rose Wilder grew up as a Missourian, in the cradle of the Ozark Mountains, and then went on to become a world famous author and columnist. She returned to the Ozarks after many world travels with enough money to build her parents a luxury English cottage on their farm. It was here that Laura, at the prompting of Rose, began her 'Little House' childhood memoirs. Laura was herself a school teacher and a columnist. Now she was an author, and her books were designed to teach children about the life of rural Americans during the pioneer period after the Civil War. They have been published in multiple languages and are famous world wide. They are a wholesome and entertaining account of the latter 19th century. If you have not already introduced your children to her stories, I strongly recommend them.

I recently visited the Mansfield 'Little House' with some friends and captured some of the photographs featured here. While I was not permitted to take pictures of any of the interiors (houses and museum), I was free to take all the pictures I wanted outside. The interior of the houses were remarkable, as I was privileged to stand in the home and touch some of the items of this world-famous American icon. In the 1980s, film producer Michael Landon, created a movie and television series based on the memoirs of Laura Ingalls Wilder. While much of the film episodes are fiction, they are set to the historical reality of her life and times. Laura was portrayed by actress Melissa Gilbert and the episodes were narrated by her in the way Laura wrote her books. These are interesting fictional stories based on factual people and lives.

Today's local children playing
in Mansfield Missouri
The Ozark Mountains in Southern Missouri are filled with history and culture. Moving to this area was one the most rewarding decisions I've ever made. For my Catholic readers, you will be pleased to learn that Catholicism is growing in this area at a nearly exponential rate. The small rural town of Mansfield Missouri already has a thriving Catholic Church. Missouri also has some of the most generous home-schooling laws in the world, making the state extremely hospitable to traditional family life. If you are a traditionally-minded Catholic family anywhere in the United States, a move to the Ozark Mountains of Southwest Missouri or Northwest Arkansas might be a desirable placed to raise your children. It certainly worked out well for me and of course Laura Ingalls Wilder.

CATHOLICS WIN DEEP SOUTH !!!

The St. Andrew's Banner of Dixie Papists
THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: History has just been made. For the first time ever, the Deep South of Dixie has just voted for two Catholic candidates for president. South Carolina and Georgia voted for Catholic convert Newt Gingrich, while Alabama and Mississippi just voted for traditional Latin Mass Catholic Rick Santorum.

Catholic Convert
Newt Gingrich
Traditional Catholic
Rick Santorum
While I suffer from no illusions about either of these two candidates -- they are both big government Republicans who have compromised their conservative principles -- I am compelled to point out to my readers that history has just been made. The Deep South of Dixie has just demonstrated a willingness to shed its anti-Catholic history and support a Catholic for the highest office of the land. (They just can't decide which one yet.)

When you couple this with the fact that Catholics are taking leadership roles within the New Southern Nationalist movement, it can safely be said that what we are witnessing in the Southland of Dixie is a profound paradigm shift crossing all religious lines. The South is coming out pro-Catholic, and as far as this strongly Evangelical part of the United States goes, they say the more traditionally-conservative Catholic the better. (Now if we can only find one that believes in Subsidiarity.)

A Southern (Dixie) Take on Monarchy

(Southern Nationalist Network) - As demonstrated by Dr Hoppe, the democratic age has brought about less liberty, weaker families, a declining birth rate and total war. It should be clear that democracy is a failure. It is a regression back into barbarism, not a progressive step forward as it is generally understood today due to non-stop propaganda in its favour. Most of our Southern ancestors wisely rejected democracy and the ‘progressive’ agenda which came from New England and the North. Instead, Southerners embraced an extremely limited, aristocratic republic which in many ways had more in common with a traditional monarchy than a modern democracy. Once liberty and property rights were the key political issues in Southern society and government interfered little in people’s lives. The Southern population was growing and highly affluent. Under democracy today the South is the poorest region of the United States, crime is rampant, millions of Third World aliens populate our States, birth rates have dramatically fallen, hundreds of thousands of laws regulate our every activity, and war (generally aggressive) is nearly always present. The more democracy has been forced upon us, the worse off we have become. Under the monarchical system the West ruled supreme in the world by any possible standard.  Civilisation was on an upwards trend. There seemed to be no height to which we couldn’t reach. Today we live in a dying civilisation. The old optimism is rightfully gone and we wonder now if we will even be able to survive the present century. Not all our problems can be blamed upon democracy, but surely this awful, failed system deserves a great deal of the blame. If we are to correct the direction of our civilisation one of the things we must do is reject the democratic system. We can not return to the past; however, by studying our past and looking back at a more healthy age and system, we can find answers which can be adapted to our present problems in the modern age. Folks like Dr Hans-Hermann Hoppe are doing invaluable work by pointing us in the right direction...

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT:  While most folks wouldn't normally associate Dixie Nationalism with monarchy, there is a school of thought among some Southerners that perhaps a more traditional form of government is needed that has strong ties to our European Christian heritage.  It's not hard to see traces of this element woven throughout Southern society.  For example, Southern hospitality harkens back to medieval chivalry.  Southern honour also harkens back to chivalry, when a man's word was his bond, and his integrity was not to be insulted.  Southerners have always been a traditional people, sometimes even to a fault, and this has caused us more than our share of trouble over the last century and a half.  While most Southerners would just desire things to 'go back to the way they were' in the Constitutional Republic days of the American Empire, a growing number are beginning to realise that is never going to happen.  Among those Southerners who yearn for independence again, some are open to discussion on more traditional forms of government -- monarchy in particular -- and this creates an interesting overlap with the traditional Catholic perspective.  The above citation and podcast is from a Southern (Dixie) Nationalist news blog.  I'm sure my readers will find it interesting.

THE EPIC FAILURE OF MODERNISM

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Social science has now FINALLY caught up with the Catholic Church. The latest studies show that while the world population is growing, the number of children per household is actually decreasing -- EVERYWHERE -- even in Islamic countries! The reason why the world population continues to rise is not because people are having more babies, but because people are living longer. We will hit a population plateau within the next couple decades, which will be followed by a rapid decline in overall population. The effect of this will be a prolonged and unending economic depression!!!

Causes of Depopulation...

1. Career Women - Feminism.
2. Affluence - Decadence - (fewer children - invest more in each child).
3. Artificial birth control - coupled with sexual promiscuity - sexual revolution.
4. Cohabitation = less children.
5. No fault divorce = family instability.
6. Unwarranted fears of overpopulation (not supported by modern data).

Social scientists now admit that MARRIAGE DOES MATTER. MARRIAGE DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE. THE CHURCH WAS RIGHT!!! The Church was right about marriage. The Church was right about family. The Church was right about artificial birth control.

Forward this blog post. Get the word out!!!!

How To Break Up America's Political Establishment

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Many of my readers in the United States have written me to lament the current two-party (Democrat - Republican) political monopoly. They have rightly assessed the hopelessness of the situation and the virtual impossibility of establishing a viable third-party. They ask me what they can do, if anything, to change the system.

I am now going to reveal to you the way in which the two-party political monopoly in the United States can be broken up permenantly. The strategy is really very simple, and it's a whole lot easier than trying to establish a nationwide third-party. Are you ready? Are you sitting down? Here it is...

ESTABLISH LOCAL STATE PARTIES INSTEAD.

That's right, if your state doesn't already have one, then look toward establishing one. For example, I live in Missouri, and we don't currently have a state party. I would propose that some folks in my state get together and create the 'Missouri Party' or something akin to that. The goals and objectives of this party are simply to preserve and protect the best interests of Missourians against any threat to our state sovereignty from within or without. The state party should avoid controversial social and fiscal issues, focusing instead on what best preserves the sovereignty of the state, which of course protects the rights of Missouri voters. We would want to run state and local candidates for office, but we would limit our activities to that. We would not run federal candidates. In time, as each state party gains traction among their state population, the Democrats and Republicans will slowly lose their grip in those states, eventually losing their grip on federal politics as well.

State parties should avoid endorsing federal candidates from the Republicans and Democrats. If however, they feel they simply must endorse somebody, than the criteria should be based entirely on one thing. Which candidate will do more to preserve and protect the sovereignty of that state, and the right of that state to manage its own affairs.

If this strategy were enacted tomorrow, in at least half the states in the Union, than I predict by 2016 the Republicans and Democrats would begin losing control. By 2020, they would be bowing to kiss the rings of each state party chairman. As a result, local voters would have far more control over their local governments, and considerable more control over the runaway federal government. That is, if the federal government still exists in 2020.

The Sad State of the U.S. Catholic Church

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: About twenty years ago I was an Evangelical. I was part of a growing and vibrant movement. These communities couldn't expand their worship chapels fast enough. No sooner than they would grow out of a renovated store front, they would buy an abandon grocery store and convert it into a chapel, only to have to sell it a few years later and move into a renovated office building where they could build stadium seating. I now live in an area in Southwest Missouri where mega-churches the size of small college campuses dot the landscape. For all of their growth however, I knew something was missing.

A Modernist tsunami swept over all Western Christianity
in the  1960s - 1970s
Evangelicals are known to church hop. In fact they are notorious for it. They move around from congregation to congregation, 'wherever the Spirit is leading,' so they say. Rarely do they settle down on a permanent church home. So naturally these communities are highly competitive with each other for new members. 'Come to our church, we have a new children's ministry!' and 'No, come to our church, we have a new rocking worship band!' Another funny thing about the Evangelical churches of today is that they were the mainstream Protestant churches of yesteryear. This is another example of church hopping. Socially speaking, mainstream Protestantism never died. It just morphed. As liberal modernists began taking over the leadership positions of mainstream Protestant denominations during the 1960s through 1970s, their relatively conservative and traditional congregations just left. A mass exodus occurred over the course of three decades, as the old mainstream Protestants simply became the new Evangelicals! My own family of five, in which I was raised, is a perfect example of this. We started off as Lutherans in the 1970s. During the 1980s we transitioned to Baptists, and finally by the 1990s we were full-fledged nondenominational Evangelicals. My family has since remained in the Evangelical fold, while only I myself, along with my wife and children have gone back to the Catholic Church via the Canterbury Trail. This is because I came to understand an inherent weakness in the Protestant strategy of preservation through schism. You see, Protestants never confronted the tsunami of liberal Modernism that swept through Western society during the 1960s and 70s. Instead, they just ran away from it. When the liberal Modernists infected their churches, and took them over, they didn't fight to regain control. They just left and started their own new Evangelical churches. There are many problems with this, which I could spend a lot of time talking about here, but I won't. Instead I will just say this. Sooner or later, when you fail to face your problems, they eventually catch up with you. So it is with Evangelicalism. The Modernist tsunami is just now touching the doors of the Evangelical churches, and guess what! The water is getting inside. It's just a matter of time now. Soon they will be dealing with all the same problems as their traditional Protestant counterparts. Women will demand ordination (it's already happened in some of these churches) and homosexuals will demand to be recognised as 'normal.' Evangelicals will not have the tools to confront the flood once they are up to their knees in it. Their only choice will again be preservation through schism again, and this time, they really have nowhere else to go. The entire Evangelical Movement has done nothing but postpone the inevitable.

This Modernist tsunami affected every aspect of Western
society and religion itself was not immune.
As I said, my wife and I came into the Catholic Church via the Canterbury Trail. I won't go into the methodology that led to our decision to leave Evangelicalism for Anglicanism, but suffice it to say, rather than run away from the tsunami, we chose to dive right into it. There in The Episcopal Church U.S.A. we found ourselves confronted with literally everything our family had run away from -- liberal Modernism in religious robes. Thankfully, we had a relatively conservative priest, a leftover from a time long past, to help us overcome our fears of catholic ritual and tradition. What he could not help us overcome was the obvious flood of liberal Modernism that was all around us, something that he himself struggled with. My wife and I knew we could not support an institution that embraced this sort of thing, and we quickly discovered why our parents left the Lutheran church some twenty years prior. Nevertheless, our good Episcopal priest had showed us enough to overcome our fears, and so we jumped into the Tiber River and swam over to Rome.

The effect of Modernism on religion is always the same.
Only the Catholic Church has remained intact, though damaged,
after the Modernist tsunami swept through Western Christianity.
Once in the Roman Catholic Church we discovered the same liberal-Modernist tsunami had swept over there too, leaving a wake of destruction in its path. However, something was different in the Catholic fold. While many Catholics no longer practice, and those few who do oppose the Church in many areas, the doctrine of the Church remains intact. The pope remains in charge as its defender. For all the damage Modernism has wrought to Western Christianity, it is the Catholic Church alone that has neither succumbed to it, nor run away from it. Her doctrine remains intact, and the Gates of Hell have not prevailed. As the Voris video above accurately assesses the damage done to the Catholic Church by the Modernist tsunami, it does not point out what I have here. The Catholic Church took the tsunami head on, absorbing the full force of it, enduring an incredible amount of damage in the process. Many of our people were swept away by its sheer force. Yet in spite of that, the Catholic Church still stands. The Rock of Peter still reigns in Rome. All the forces of Hell could not wash it away. Now as the water recedes, and the damage is revealed, we are in awe of its devastation. The good news is it's nearly over. Rome has been tested, and Rome has survived. The mainstream Protestant denominations did not survive. They were changed, becoming part of the tsunami itself. As for the majority of mainstream Protestants, well, they just ran away, becoming Evangelicals, but they shall not escape. For some reason unknown to us, it would seem that God has ordained this tsunami to hit all of Western Christianity. Their time is coming. Indeed, that time has already come. Their church basements are already flooding. As for we Catholics, our flood is nearly over. Now comes the clean up work. As we clean up, some of our washed-away members will return to us, wandering back through the devastation, and when they find their way home, they will help us clean up. Don't be discouraged by this work. God has preserved a remnant for it. He always does.

Maybe We Should Let The Mormon Win

If Elected, Mitt Romney Would Become America's First Mormon President
THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: I realise this may sound incredibly selfish so please forgive me. Considering the likelihood that America is headed for another economic catastrophe in the not-too-distant future, including the possibility of a crippling war as well, I'm almost glad Mitt Romney (a Mormon) has taken the lead for the GOP presidential nomination. I would hate for a Catholic (Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich) to be at the helm when this ship goes down. People hate Catholics enough already. We don't need the sinking of America on our backs too.

The Sinking Titanic Draws Many
Parallels to America's Future
I'm just saying, the way people usually write the history books, Catholics almost universally get blamed whenever something goes wrong in society, whether the connection is real or just perceived. So I would hate to see the Catholic Church get blamed for the sinking of America in the not-too-distant future. This ship is going down. I say, let the Mormon have the wheel. Catholics should be readying the lifeboats.

Now the Mormons have a prophecy which many (not all but many) hold to be true, and it goes something like this.  'Joseph Smith, the prophet, was inspired to affirm and ratify this truth, and he further predicted that the time would come, when the Constitution of our country would hang as it were by a thread, and that the Latter-day Saints above all other people in the world would come to the rescue of that great and glorious palladium of our liberty' (Conference Report, October 1912, p.10).  As I said, not all Mormons agree on this, but a fairly large number of them do.  Mitt Romney has been asked about this specifically, in reference to the notion that he might be the representative of the "white horse" of Mormonism that Joseph Smith referred to in his so-called 'white horse prophecy.'  Romney wisely dismissed the notion that he thought of himself in any such way.  He did not however dismiss the prophecy itself.  Undoubtedly, if elected, many Mormons will view Romney as the fulfilment of the 'white horse prophecy' and see our current times as those Joseph Smith spoke of 'when the Constitution would hand by a thread.'  Of the latter portion about the Constitution we cannot deny.  Indeed it is hanging by a threat and has been for some time.  As for Romney being some kind of 'white horse' representative of Mormonism that is destined to save America from the abyss, well perhaps it's time the Mormons had their way to see if their so-called 'prophecy' comes true.  Perhaps if America sinks with a Mormon at the helm, they may come to question some of the other teachings of Joseph Smith as well.

Many things may happen in the next president's term, regardless if it is Romney or Obama in the Whitehouse.  A middle-eastern war between Israel and Iran seems almost certain to play out now, either under Obama's administration, or Romney's administration, depending on if/when Obama takes us to war before the election.  While Iran will certainly take a beating like nothing its ever seen before, we have to remember, these are the Persians we are dealing with here.  It's going to be a little different than Iraq.  These people aren't going anywhere, and they sure as hell are not going to easily submit to some Western power (especially the Zionist state).  There is going to be some blow back, and there are no time limits imposed on that.  The Persians may have the means to react quickly, say within a year, or slowly within ten years, but they will hit back and it will be hard.  Nine-eleven 2001 was a direct Sunni Fundamentalist response to the Persian Gulf War.  It took them an entire decade to pull off their revenge on the United States for interfering in Arabian politics.  Likewise, the Iranians will do the same, but I don't think it will take them nearly as long to pull it off.  Meanwhile, the war itself will cripple the United States financially, while Israel will find itself in even a more vulnerable position as the entire Arab world will be enraged by their attack on an Islamic Republic.  The eventual fall of Israel is almost certain, if not sooner than later.  It will cause a Second Holocaust in that region, which is unthinkable, but here at home it will disrupt the Dispensationalist faith of millions of American Evangelicals.  This of course provides a huge missionary opportunity for Catholics in the Midwest and South (Dixie) but that can't happen if a Catholic is at the wheel of this sinking nation, and the Israeli Holocaust happens under his watch.  He will be blamed for the catastrophe, and the Catholic Church will be seen as the agent behind it all.  This is the typical Evangelical tripe we get from them all the time.  Remove a Catholic president from the equation, and all of this goes away.  Either Romney (the Mormon) or Obama (the ???) will get the blame, while Catholics are free to do what Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI have been calling us to do all along -- EVANGELISE!!!

Obama Is The Symptom Not The Problem

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT:  I want to make something perfectly clear to my readers.  I DON'T HATE BARACK OBAMA.  I don't even dislike him.  Truth is, if I met him in a pub, and didn't know he was the President of the United States, I would probably have a few drinks with him.  I might even make a friend.  The same is true with G.W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

In American politics we tend to get personal, even to the point of hating our leaders.  I have tried to avoid that, and I've tried to teach my kids to steer clear of that as well.  Truth is, while much of what our political leaders do is evil, that doesn't mean they themselves are evil people.  I have friends who are ardent Obama supporters, even to the point of trying to defend his indefensible HHS mandate.  I don't 'unfriend' them just because of their flawed political views.  They're good people and I know they mean well.  It's just that so much of what they 'know' is wrong.

I'm going to tell my readers now that there is a fifty percent chance that Obama may lose the election, and if he does, there is a seventy-five percent chance that nothing big will really change.  Oh sure, a Republican president may get rid of some of the more offensive features of Obamacare, including the insidious HHS mandate, but don't expect the principles of Obamacare to disappear, and you certainly shouldn't expect anything to get better in the healthcare industry.  I would say there is probably a strong chance they will continue to get worse, especially under a Republican president.  Under Obama we may go to war with Iran.  Under a Republican president we WILL go to war with Iran.  Under Obama the federal government will continue to get bigger and more intrusive.  Under a Republican president the federal government will continue to get bigger and more intrusive.  Under Obama the federal debt will continue to grow.  Under a Republican president the federal debt will continue to grow.  I make it a point not to drink the Kool Aid of either the Republicans or the Democrats.  One of the ways the parties poison are minds is by personally attacking their opponents.  They get us thinking that it's all about the personality of the man in office, and in the process, we forget the real problem is a common theme echoed by both parties --  each in their own way.  That theme is Subsidiarity -- or rather the lack thereof.

Neither party believes in Subsidiarity any more.  The Republican party candidates occasionally give lip service to it, but almost none of them abide by it, with of course the exception of Ron Paul in this presidential race, who has been blackballed by the GOP because of it.  The problem is that Americans have literally forgotten what the United States of America was originally about.  They have forgotten our very identity....
  1. Americans have forgotten that they are citizens of their respective states BEFORE they are citizens of the United States.  Case in point; I am a Missourian first, and an American second.  To say such a thing is probably the single most 'American' thing I could possibly say, because America is about a state's right to sovereignty and self-determination.  That's what the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution were all about.
  2. Americans have forgotten that their most important political ties are the ones made closest to home.  I'm talking about city and county government.  Even state government to some degree, while federal government ties are the farthest and least important.
  3. Americans have forgotten that our rights come from God not government, and the reason why God has given us those rights is to exercise certain benevolent responsibilities.  That without those responsibilities, those rights often become subject to abuse, eventually leading to unjust laws that restrict them.
  4. Americans have forgotten that our first political duty is local and it is to take care of our own people in need.  So long as we abdicate this responsibility to the state and federal governments, we are inviting the very political abuse that is destroying this nation.
  5. Americans have forgotten that without Subsidiarity there can be only tyranny.
No I don't hate Barack Obama.  He's just the latest link in a long chain of federal abuse going all the way back to the American Civil War.  Politically speaking, he's not much different than the rest of them, as far as presidents go really.  He's just a symptom.  He's not the disease.  WE ARE!  When Americans begin to return to the principle of Subsidiarity, then and only then will things begin to change for the better, regardless if who sits in the Whitehouse's Oval Office.

The Date Has Been Set

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: I cannot tell you how I have come about this information, but it's plain to see when looking at the national headlines today. Nothing I say here is new, but I will try to convey here what I have learned in a concise and succinct way.

The oil corporations, along with the military-industrial alliance, have given the Obama administration a date. I do not know exactly when that date is, but I speculate it is sometime this summer. On or before that date, the Obama administration must have the United States committed to war with Iran, or else these major campaign financiers will pull their support of Obama and hand it over to the Republican challenger, whoever that may be, thus insuring a Republican victory in November, effectively making Obama a one-term president.

So now we will see exactly what kind of metal Barack Obama is made of. Will he sacrifice American lives and bring the horrors of modern total-war to the Iranian people, just for reelection purposes, or will he stand up to the corporate elitists who obviously don't have American best interests in mind? Watch the president. The answer comes very soon. One way or another however, either this year or next, Democrat of Republican in the Whitehouse, this nation WILL BE at full scale war with Iran very soon.

Barack Obama = The Corporate Whore

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Always follow the money trail. Obama wants to get re-elected. That can't happen without campaign contributions from big corporations with lots and lots of money. Keep that in mind as you read this next story...
(The Daily Beast) - The Obama administration’s mandate that all health insurance companies must provide coverage for contraceptives has set off an explosive debate about religious freedom and women’s health issues. The attention has been focused on the administration’s insistence that religious institutions, such as Catholic hospitals and schools, would be required to offer the benefit for their employees, even though it contradicts church teaching. But completely ignored is the more fundamental problem: this mandate is not only about the bedroom, it’s about the boardroom. You’ve heard of crony capitalism? Well this is America’s first example of crony contraceptives.

Forget for a minute the religious question and look at who wins big here: Big Pharma. This mandate is not really about condoms or generic versions of “the pill,” which are available free or cheap in lots of places. This is about brand-name birth control drugs and other devices that some consumers swear off because they are too expensive. The Health and Human Services (HHS) mandate requires health-insurance companies provide contraceptive coverage for all “FDA approved contraceptive methods.” It does not insist on generics. And it does not offer any cost containment.

What’s more, the mandate prevents health-insurance companies from having copays or deductibles for the benefit. This is the perfect set up for Big Pharma. Since the drugs will be paid for by a third party (insurance companies, who will pass the cost on to employers and the rest of us), the consumer won’t worry about the price. Expensive brand names will no doubt see demand rise. Ask more health-care analysts why the cost of medical services continues to rise so rapidly and near the top of the list is the fact that a third-party payment system won’t contain costs.

Back in 2009, many observers were surprised when Big Pharma came out in favor of President Obama’s health-care reform bill. The industry spent millions running television ads in favor of the law and industry lobbyists pushed hard for it. One important reason they did so was the promise that with the new law they would have a new market of millions of new customers. The contraceptive mandate is a perfect example....
