THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: The Church of England is about to learn a painful lesson. It's a lesson learned by The Episcopal Church USA some thirty years ago. The only sad thing about this lesson is that once it's learned, there is no turning back. A little over thirty years ago The Episcopal Church USA began ordaining women priests and modified it's prayerbook to accommodate newer and more innovative means of worship. Of the 3.5 million Episcopalians in the United States, about 1 million saw the writing on the wall. Some of them immediately split from the national province, creating for themselves various traditional provinces. These came to be known as part of the greater Anglican Continuum. Many Episcopal priests converted to Rome, and brought many lay faithful with them. Some Episcopal priests and laymen converted to Eastern Orthodoxy (where it was available to them). Some left for other Protestant churches. Within just ten years The Episcopal Church USA lost nearly a third of it's membership! The denomination has yet to recover.

Now the Church of England is about to learn the same lesson. Sadly, however, as learned by The Episcopal Church USA, once you go down this road there is no turning back. You see, the people most likely to leave are the conservatives and traditionalists. Thus the only people left behind are the liberal modernists. Once the denomination has been "liberated" from the conservatives and traditionalists "holding it back" it is free to explore further liberal innovation, and so it does, eventually driving out the moderates too, until all that remains are the most liberal of the bunch. With the loss of traditional Anglo-Catholics, and conservative Evangelicals, the Church of England will soon become a left-wing liberal laboratory, fit for nothing but to implement the next wave of experimental innovation. Today it's women bishops. Tomorrow it's gay and lesbian bishops, along with gay marriages, and who knows what next! That was the pattern of The Episcopal Church USA, so it is now the pattern of the Church of England.

For all the talk on this blog about traditional Anglo-Catholics going to Rome, we often overlook the conservative Evangelicals in the Church of England. This is also a sizable bunch, which is one more reason why the decision to elect women to the episcopacy (without provision for those who object) is especially tragic for the Church of England. These Evangelicals are likely to wander away from the C of E as well. In time, many of them will find their way into non-affiliated Evangelical churches, while others are likely to start their own "continuing" Anglican divisions, apart from Canterbury, but perhaps aligned with some African metropolitan willing to oversee them.

In the 20th century we saw the demise of the British Empire. In the early days of the 21st century we are now seeing the fall of the Church of England and the broader Anglican Communion. Perhaps this has some prophetic implications. Only time will tell. What is certain now is that the Catholic Church and the Evangelical world will both have a lot to gain from the British Isles over the next decade. For Catholics there is a lesson to be learned. This is what happens when you compromise with liberal modernists. You give an inch, they take a mile, and they absolutely will not stop - EVER - until they have destroyed everything the Church once was. When we Catholics look upon the Anglican Communion, we must understand that there is a reflection of ourselves without orthodoxy. Were it not for the stubbornness of the pope, and those faithful bishops in union with him, we too would find ourselves in the same pickle.

Anglican Catholic Church of Canada Votes Overwhelmingly To Accept Pope's Ordinariate Offer

(CNA) - With “overwhelming support,” a recent meeting of leaders in the Anglican Catholic Church of Canada (ACCC) voted to unite with the Roman Catholic Church through the Apostolic Constitution created by Pope Benedict XVI.


The ACCC, part of the Continuing Anglican Movement, is made up of more than two dozen congregations. Its Eighth Provincial Synod and Thirteenth Diocesan Synod were held simultaneously at the Rosemary Heights Retreat Center in Surrey, British Columbia.

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT:  In what has become one of the strongest, and dare I say most organized, acceptance of the pope's offer to Anglicans, the ACCC is now poised to become one of the first Anglican ordinariates.  I suspect they will be established in full communion with Rome almost immediately after the English ordinariate.

While multiple bodies throughout the English-speaking world have already accepted the pope's offer, it would appear the Vatican is holding out for some more concrete moves on the part of England.  While the Traditional Anglican Church in England formally requested an ordinariate last May, the larger group Forward in Faith still has yet to make an official move, though it would appear to be trending in the same direction.  Likewise, other Anglo-Catholic groups within the Church of England would also seem to be leaning toward the ordinariate after the disaster at this month's general synod.

It would seem the Vatican wants to start with England first, get the ordinariate up and running, then move out from there.  Considering the clear and organized message sent by the ACCC this week, it would seem Canada may be #2 on the list.  The United States is another story.  Thanks to a weak and disorganized response from the Anglican Church in America, implementation here may be slow.

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: The fictional narrative above is from the Alex Jones website InfoWars.Com. It's a good read, but in my opinion it's a bit too dramatic.  It nevertheless recognizes some key historical trends currently unfolding. I don't think things will get quite as dramatic as the narrative above suggests, but I do think the picture I included does represent a very realistic possibility of what North America MIGHT look like before the end of the decade.

I think InfoWars is probably accurate about the eventual demise of the United States, barring a 180 degree turn around of the American people, it is inevitable. Right now, America's best hope lies in the TEA Party movement, coupled with a nationwide grassroots religious push to bring morality back to America's public streets. The TEA Parties are underway, unfortunately, I haven't seen the religious push yet. Without it, the TEA Parties will fail. Mark my words, without a nationwide religious revival there is no political movement that can save this nation.

The dire predictions on InfoWars and the Alex Jones Show will likely become reality only in the large urban, and heavily populated, regions of the United States.  This is particularly true for the West Coast, which is morally bankrupt and culturally amalgamated. Borders, language and culture are what define a civilization. California has none of the above. It's complete collapse is eminent. We will likely see similar unrest in various parts of New England, and in a smattering of large urban areas across the United States. Small cities, towns and rural areas will be the ideal location for what's left of America to survive, and it will be in these regions that the nation(s) is/are rebuilt. I write in plural because once the collapse occurs, we can expect a dictatorship government to arise for a short time in a vain attempt to hold the United States together. Again, barring a nationwide religious revival, it will not work, and it will not last. The federal government in Washington DC will likely collapse under it's own weight. That's when things start to get interesting.

Once the federal government collapses, it will refocus it's military, and what remains of his bureaucracy, toward maintaining control of whatever regions it is capable of reaching at a minimal cost, and can easily subdue with minimal effort.  First on Washington's list will be the banking sector of New England, as well as what remains of the industrialized (i.e. unionized) rust belt around the Great Lakes.  These areas will be most easily controlled.  Anything beyond that is icing on the cake, and Washington will be lucky to get it.

The most problematic areas for Washington DC will be those regions where secession movements have deep roots and are likely to become mainstream once the federal government is defunct.  The two regions where secession is likely to occur rather quickly are in Texas and the old Confederacy.  Once allied during America's Civil War (1861-1865), it is likely these two regions will seek separate destinies in the coming American meltdown.  Texas has it's own unique identity, it's own national pride, and it's own ideas of how things should be done.  Having been members of three larger unions in the past (Mexico, USA and CSA), it is likely the lone star state will do what it can to establish itself as a free and independent nation this time, perhaps taking a couple neighboring states with it that already closely identify with Texas.  As for the old Confederacy, it has been said for one-hundred-fifty years now "The South will rise again!"  Modern secession movements have been well established in the Southeast states for decades, and Southern Americans have always held to a different take on history concerning their first secession attempt in 1860-1861.  The ONLY thing that has kept the South in check since the end of the Civil War has been a strong federal government.  Remove the strength of the fed, and you will see those old secessionist viewpoints return to the mainstream popular opinion rather quickly.  It should be pointed out that technically speaking, the Confederate States of America never did surrender at the end of the Civil War.  Sure, General Lee surrendered the Army of Virginia, but President Jefferson Davis refused to surrender the Confederacy.  He was eventually captured by the North, held on grounds of treason, never formally charged, and eventually released after it became apparent the federal government would never win a prosecution against him.  The South was defeated, occupied and humiliated, but never surrendered.  That's important to remember from a historical standpoint, because when the time comes, these facts will resurface with a vengeance, in a way unimaginable as of the date of this writing (July, 2010).

There are other secession movements, smaller but just as determined.  Both Vermont and New Hampshire have demonstrated strong interest in forming Libertarian Republics, completely independent from the United States.  In Vermont this has captured nearly 20% of popular opinion.  Eco-Marxists on the West Coast have long expressed a desire to create a new western republic called "Cascadia" from Northern California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia.  In contrast, neoconservative Alaska has long had it's own secession movement, and secession party, of which Sarah Palin's husband was a member, and Sarah Palin herself addressed while governor of the state.  Hawaii on the other hand, has long had it's own secession movement which is growing in popularity.  Meanwhile the American Southwest (Southern California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and West Texas) is increasingly coming under the influence of the Aztlan Movement, an attempt by Mexico to retake the Southwest United States through non-violent demographic warfare.  So far the plan is working marvelously well.  The point here is that while chaos is just around the corner, (barring a national religious revival), it is likely to be short-lived.  Many social and political movements are already poised to fill the vacuum once the collapse of the fed occurs, and we still have the state legislatures.  While some of them (like California's for example) will likely implode, the majority of them will remain intact.  They can take over the duties of the federal government in the event of an emergency, including raising a state guard and securing the peace.  Yes, chaos is coming (barring a miracle) but reorganization is just around the corner.  Historically speaking, entire continents don't plunge into darkness all at once.  There are respites of reorganization and order - some lasting a lifetime.  With the structures and movements already in place, this is more likely to be the case.  We might expect some skirmishes between them, but in the end, everything will settle into it's own place - at least for a while.  Americans will survive and our families will flourish, albeit a little poorer, and perhaps with different national identities.  Yes, the end of our empire is upon us, but that doesn't mean we should panic.  There is good reason to believe that God has good things in store for those who trust him and live by his laws.

What now?  While the Titanic USA is sinking, it's time to get into the life boats.  Granted, there may not appear to be enough, but if you're involved in a Church and following God's laws, you're already sitting in one.  The primary and most important thing any family can do is to get involved in a church and start practicing religion in the home.  This is the social glue that will hold your family and community together.  The next thing to work on in the years ahead is personal independence.  By that I mean consolidating your resources to get out of debt, provide for yourself as much as possible, and network with other Christians to help each other in time of need.  Now is the time for small home prayer groups to augment the larger parishes and congregations.  Priests and pastors, that's your cue to start organizing!  For Catholics I would recommend organizing small home groups around the weekly recitation of Evening Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours or else the Holy Rosary.  This in conjunction with home group weekly pot lucks and activities for children should do much toward strengthening parish life and creating strong social networks.  Beyond that there really is nothing more we can do - other than pray for our nation and peacefully petition our government for a redress of grievances.   So in the final analysis we must stay calm.  Nations rise and fall, it's the ebb and flow of history.  Our ancestors survived and flourished in the wake of previous collapses.  So will we.  Keep that in mind.

Catholics - Support America's TEA Parties!

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Long time readers of this blog know The Catholic Knight is a TEA Party supporter. I support the TEA Parties because they are safe family-friendly events that are the embodiment of our First Amendment right to peacefully assemble and demand a redress for grievances.  Mark my words, if ever a day comes when the TEA Parties are no longer allowed to exist, then America is OVER - period.

In recent days the TEA Parties have come under considerable attack from the extreme radical Left wing in this country.  When I say "Left wing," I am referring to the Marxist element of American politics.  Yes, the same Marxist element Our Lady of Fatima warned us about nearly 100 years ago. The most recent pawn of the Left, the NAACP, has just accused the TEA Parties of being racist.  (Funny how everything always breaks down to race for the Left.)  Of course the accusation is pure poppycock, as there are many people of various ethnic groups who participate in the TEA Parties.  Some of the nations biggest advocates of the TEA Parties are Black and Hispanic.   It's ridiculous of course, bat that's how the Left works.  That's how Marxists have always worked for the last 100 years.

Blacks Frequently Help Lead TEA Parties

Let me tell you what the TEA Parties are primarily about.  More than anything, they're not any kind of partisan protest against any one candidate or political party.  The first TEA Parties were organized under the Bush administration believe it or not, in protest of the Bush financial bailout of 2008.  As Obama and the Democrats swept into office, the TEA Parties began to focus on them, and mark my words, should future Republicans fail to heed the message of the TEA Parties, they too will find themselves the target of protest.  That's because the TEA Parties are not about partisan politics.  In many ways, they are a protest of the two-party political system that has led this country to ruin over the last fifty years.  Yet so far, the TEA Party is not a political party in itself.  It fields no candidates, and has no defined platform.

So what are the TEA Parties, and what are they about?  Socially, they are a protest of big government and the elite ruling class of politicians who think themselves above the law.  They are a protest of the nanny state mentality, in which is found the notion that government is God, government knows best and government should be involved in every aspect of our personal lives.  They are a protest of reckless government spending, which increases the national debt, produces inflation, robs the little people of their meager earnings, and enslaves us all to the welfare programs of the almighty government.  Politically, the TEA Parties are about local control, bringing the government back home, state's rights, decentralization, and shrinking the size and power of the federal government.  To put it in Catholic terms - SUBSIDIARITY.

Socialization also presents dangers. Excessive intervention by the state can threaten personal freedom and initiative. The teaching of the Church has elaborated the principle of subsidiarity, according to which "a community of a higher order should not interfere in the internal life of a community of a lower order, depriving the latter of its functions, but rather should support it in case of need and help to co- ordinate its activity with the activities of the rest of society, always with a view to the common good."

Subsidiarity in American terms is called "Federalism" or in the more pure sense "Antifederalism."  The Founding Fathers of the United States were divided primarily into two political camps - the Federalists and the Antifederalists.  Both camps believed in a centralized national government.  They just disagreed on how much power it should have.  The Federalists proposed a strong centralized government that the states would delegate more power to, so as to make it stronger than the states.  Their dream was realized in the ratification of the Constitution of the United States.  The Antifederalists opposed the ratification of the Constitution, and preferred instead to keep the United States under the Articles of Confederation.  This earlier form of American government embodied the Antifederalist view that the power of the central government should be the same (or weaker) than that of the states.  In other words, the Antifederalists believed in keeping power closer to home, to the states, where it could be kept in better check by the people.  In their rebuttal to the Constitution proposal, the Antifederalists wrote blistering warnings (called the Antifederalist Papers) of the dire consequences associated with making the central government a more powerful Federalist system.  Sadly, every single one of their warnings has come true with near prophetic accuracy.

Now the TEA Parties cannot be accurately characterized as Antifederalist.  In fact, I would say most TEA Party supporters are Federalists at heart, and most of them are staunch supporters of the U.S. Constitution.  However, in their demonstrations we see the recognition of the warnings given by the Antifederalists, and a growing desire among the American people to return to a smaller and simpler form of national government.  Some have characterized the TEA Parties as the "Second American Revolution" and indeed they very well may be.

As Catholics, we need to stay focused.  Probably the best way to characterize our political struggle in a religious sense is the threefold battle cry of: LIFE, FAMILY & SUBSIDIARITY!  However, that being our struggle, I believe we have finally reached a convergence with American politics.  As we've seen in recent decades, the local state governments have done far more to protect and honor these principles than the centralized federal government.  In fact, many of our state governments have valiantly fought against the federal government on these issues, only to lose to federal judicial fiat or congressional legislation.  So in that sense, the TEA Party struggle is our struggle.  It is one in the same, because only in returning power to the states can we ever hope to undo the damage of legalized abortion, gay marriage and Secularism.

The TEA Parties are precisely the same kind of demonstrations Pope John Paul II endorsed during the Solidarity Movement in Poland.  They are peaceful, law-abiding and clean.  Not a single window is broken.  There are no riots, no violence, and if any trouble-makers come in, the TEA Party leaders distance themselves immediately from them and request that security have them removed.  They are protests by an oppressed people under the thumb of a government that everyday becomes increasingly tyrannical.  It's the closest thing to Solidarity the American people will ever come to.  This is it!  If we don't take a stand now, there will be NO SECOND CHANCE.  This is our LAST STAND as a free and peaceful people.  If this fails, America will undoubtedly fall into chaos.  God help us.

For this reason, The Catholic Knight, now encourages every single Catholic American reading this blog to get involved in the TEA Party movement.  You can start by showing up to the TEA Parties, bringing your rosaries and start praying for this country publicly.  That's something we need to see a bit more of at these TEA Parties - public prayer. Then if you're not registered to vote, get registered post-haste, and find the candidates that best represent our Catholic values of LIFE, FAMILY & SUBSIDIARITY!

Gay Priests Are The Problem

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Well it's about freaking time! I see the mainstream (i.e. lamestream) news media is finally, after ten years, starting to break the REAL story. Of course, they're trying to spin it as if it were something new, but by breaking the story at all, they've just let the cat out of the bag, and it's what I (and others) have been saying for a very long time.

Ever since Michael Rose's book "Goodbye, Good Men" the truth has been out there, readily available for anyone to learn who was willing to do the reading. Now it's being televised for the whole world to see.

The Catholic Church does not have a pedophilia problem. It never did. The Catholic Church has a GAY problem!!!! And I can prove it. The mainstream news media has done a real number on public perception. The term "pedophile priest" was invented by the mainstream media to briefly describe the kind of sexual abuse perpetrated by some priests. The only problem is that the term is inaccurate. Pedophilia only involved a small fraction of the cases. The overwhelming vast majority (80%) of all sex-abuse cases in the Catholic Church involved male victims between the ages of 11 and 17. This is not pedophilia! The American Psychiatric Association defines pedophilia as sexual urges or behaviors toward a prepubescent child (roughly age 10 or younger) by someone who is over age 16. While this sort of thing did happen in the Catholic Church (as with every other organization on the planet) it was extremely rare. What did happen overwhelmingly was post-pubescent molestation. So what we have in the Catholic Church was an overwhelming case of predatory homosexual behavior of vulnerable adolescent boys starting to become young men. Make no mistake about it. This was a homosexual problem.

Of course there are those who will immediately object to this candid assessment and point to endless studies suggesting that homosexual men are no more likely to molest children then heterosexual men. That may be true, but we're not talking about child molestation here are we. Pedophilia is not the topic. I think I just established that above. We're talking about the sexual abuse of adolescent boys. That's different. So the "studies" on pedophile homosexuals are irrelevant. It seems to me there is a focused effort by some to distort the facts and muddy the waters when it comes to WHO actually was doing the overwhelming vast majority of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. This particular cover-up doesn't come from within the Catholic Church. It comes from the outside, specifically from the mainstream news media and homosexual advocacy groups. I wonder why? One would think they would be even more interested in rooting out the problem. Instead they cite irrelevant statistics to cover the identity (and orientation) of the real perpetrators.

Again, a few may object, saying there is no evidence that homosexuals abuse adolescent boys anymore than heterosexuals do. I would observe that as not only an unsupported claim, but a laughable one at that, once you stop and think about what the objectors are really saying here. Heterosexual men molest teenage BOYS just as much as homosexual men? Come on!  That doesn't even make sense! One would think heterosexual male abusers would be more interested in teenage GIRLS.

So the mainstream-lamestream news media has inadvertently blown the lid off the Catholic sex abuse scandal, and simultaneously undercut their own propaganda campaign against the Catholic Church. Way to go! I suppose if I were a homosexual activist I'd be a little angry at CNN right now. I suppose I would be hoping the lamestream news media never starts connecting the dots - at least not publicly.

Now the lamestream news media did make a good point. In their attempt to scandalize the pope by pointing out this sort of thing goes on in the Vatican, they have actually set the stage for the implementation of the next Inquisition, and that my friends, is EXACTLY the sort of thing the Catholic Church has needed for a very long time.

The pope has made it clear that active homosexuals (or homosexual advocates) are not permitted to serve as priests - period. Homosexuals are no longer permitted in the seminaries. (Sadly they once were but against the advice of the Vatican.) Now the Vatican has cracked down on the seminaries. In order for a homosexual to get in, he has to LIE, and then LIVE A LIE for the remainder of his vocation. Furthermore, any homosexual priest who is not celibate, and is currently serving as a priest, is LIVING A LIE. He is a disgrace to the Church, his vocation, his parishioners, his bishop and himself! The honorable thing to do would be to get out - that is if he is an honorable man. Sadly, it would appear that many of these men are not, and some of them are sexual predators of teenage boys.

The next Inquisition is coming. Thanks to the lamestream news media, the pope has been backed into a corner now. He has no choice but to use every faculty at his disposal to enforce the law of the Church. Therefore, the days of gay priests are coming to a close. I imagine much of this will be done quietly, behind closed doors.

However, some will argue this is unfair. Why should all gay priests pay the price for the sins of a few? In answer I can only say that not all gay priests will pay. Those who honorably remain celibate have nothing to worry about. However, those who break their vows of celibacy, and commit the SIN of homosexual sex, have effectively put themselves on notice. They will be outed - eventually - and they will be fired as a result, probably even laicized (defrocked). Having sex with minors is no longer the issue. (Those who do will obviously be prosecuted for it.) Now however, the pope is backed into a corner, and ALL active homosexual priests will have to be eliminated, regardless if they are a threat to minors or not.

As I said, the honorable thing for an active homosexual priest to do is resign and find another career. However, I'm sure there are some who (for whatever reason) feel they are "called" to the priesthood regardless of their active homosexuality. Of course there are religious organizations that accommodate such things. The largest is probably the Anglican Communion, which not only permits homosexuality among their clergy, but in many places actually celebrates it. I imagine while Rome publicly receives straight Anglican clergy into the Catholic Church, there will now simultaneously be a silent exodus of gay Catholic clergy into the Anglican Communion. The alternative for these men is to either resign the priesthood or live a lie.

In this age when so much public praise is given to those "coming out of the closet," one would think gay priests in the Catholic Church might grow a little weary of hiding in one.  The Catholic Knight echoes the admonition of the Vicar of Rome.  It's time for gay priests to "come out and get out!"  Stop being cowards!  If you're an active homosexual priest in the Catholic Church, then it's time to be a man for once in your life!  Come out of the closet, admit your sin, and leave the Catholic priesthood at once.  Turn in your resignation and ask to be laicized.  If however, for some reason you don't believe your homosexual behavior is a sin, and you still want to function as a "priest" then at least have the courage to do it within an organization where you can be open and honest about it.  Go to the Anglican Communion, or some other ecclesiastical body, that celebrates homosexuality.  There you'll find a community that embraces your sin, rewards it, and if nothing else, at least the pay is better.

After 18 Months, Here Is My Assessment...

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: What can I say? If I wasn't laughing, I'd be crying. He is a complete disaster of such epic proportions I don't even know where to begin.

Having said that I would like to call your attention to a little prediction I made on election day almost 2 years ago.  Hate to say "I told ya so!"  What I really hate to say is the worst is still yet to come.

The NEXT Crusade

(New York Post) - The Islamists have it wrong: Islam isn't the world's fastest-growing religion. By birth numbers and convert tallies, it's Christianity.

And Africa's at the forefront -- a fact that's going to body-slam Muslim extremists sooner or later.

The bombings that recently butchered World Cup fans in Uganda were just the latest in a long line of crazed attacks on African Christians by Islamist fanatics. In the central states of Nigeria -- Africa's most-populous country -- religious pogroms and counter-pogroms between Muslims and Christians have become routine.

In Kenya, al Shabaab terrorists from neighboring Somalia stir up trouble and make grotesque threats. And we all know what bestial acts Sudan's Islamist government has perpetrated against black Christians over the decades.

Throughout the region, patience is wearing thin. Africa's impassioned forms of charismatic and Pentecostal Christianity won't turn the other cheek forever. The coming backlash could be ferocious (even dictatorships could exploit a vengeful popular mood)...

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Historically speaking, Christianity is long suffering. This is how the last crusades got started. It wasn't until nearly ALL of eastern Christian territory was taken by Muslim force a thousand years ago that the Church finally fought back. During the days of the late Roman Empire, all the way up to the middle ages, Christians occupied all the land from Northern Africa, around the Mediterranean, including the Holy Land, up through Syria, Asia Minor (now Turkey) and all throughout Europe. A good portion of that land was taken (by force) by Islam. It wasn't until Muslims began moving into Western Europe that it became clear the total demise of the Church was nearly at hand. At that, the pope (under the pressure of a Christian emperor) sanctioned the crusades. What many secular history books won't tell you is that the Christian crusades were a military retaliation after centuries of Islamic jihads.

What followed was a series of military campaigns against radical Islamic fundamentalism. These campaigns were sloppy at times, and unfortunately a lot of innocent people (Eastern Christians and Jews) were caught in the crossfire, but the eventual result was a successful punch against radical Islam that kept these fundamentalists in check for nearly 1,000 years. To this day the Muslims remember the crusades as a powerful blow against their empire. They are frequently chanted in their battle cries, and Western powers to this day are often referred to (inaccurately) as "crusaders."

In spite of the secular military campaigns against Islamic nations today, there hasn't been a Christian crusade in nearly 1,000 years. Make no mistake about it, the military campaigns from Israel's occupation of Gaza and the West Bank, to America's occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, are Secular Masonic wars, not Christian crusades. Muslims often fail to see the difference, and that is to their own detriment. Many Christians currently oppose these Secular Masonic wars, but if Christians continue to suffer at the hands of Muslims, that prevailing attitude may change. In fact, I would venture to say that if the sleeping giant of Christianity's military side is ever reawakened, the war that will result will dwarf anything that the Secular Masonic powers have dished out over the last fifty years. It will be global, it will target radical Islamic fundamentalism everywhere, and it will know no bounds, attacking religious shrines, destroying "holy books," disrupting Islamic culture in every way possible. The Muslim world will not know that hit it, and it will be unable to effectively resist.

Please understand that The Catholic Knight does not condone this violence. Christ taught us to forgive our enemies and bless those who persecute us. In the Christian economy, martyrdom is to be desired over military conquest and victory. It is generally not the Church itself that sponsors crusades. The last crusades were the result of political pressure by a Christian emperor, and that was the catalyst that turned Christianity from a crucified faith of martyrdom to a conquering army of conquest. Granted, it was the Muslims who started it, no doubt, but once these radicals pushed their way into the realm of the Western Christian emperor, the fight was on.

Like it or not, for better or worse, this seems to be how things go. There is some Biblical justification for it, and St. Thomas Aquinas developed the theory of "Just War" based on it. After all, while Jesus did instruct his disciples to turn the other cheek (Matthew 5:38-41), he also told them to purchase a sword (Luke 22:35-38), and so in that we have the implication that there comes a point eventually when "enough is enough."

The challenge for Christians has always been knowing when, and the tendency of Christians is to suffer martyrdom endlessly until such a point that it threatens the very existence of the Christian faith. The key seems to be in the interpretation of Jesus' saying in Matthew 26:52. Here Jesus tells St. Peter that those who live by the sword shall die by the sword. We could interpret this to mean that those who resort to violence first, will end up falling victim to the same kind of violence. In this sense, we could say that the endless jihads of Islam (living by the sword) resulted in the crusades (dying by the sword). Of course, if Christians did the same, they should expect a similar result.

For now Christians continue to suffer martyrdom, and that will likely be the long term status quo. However, if the radical Muslim extremists keep pushing, they may eventually wake the sleeping giant, and this will likely come with the reestablishment of some kind of Christian imperialism - emperor king and all.  There are many approved Catholic prophecies by approved Catholic visionaries that predict this.  The best resource for these can be found in Desmond Birch's book "Trial, Tribulation & Triumph: Before, During, and After Antichrist."

An Open Letter to Anglo-Catholics

To our dear Anglican brethren in Christ,

Ten years ago I left The Episcopal Church USA to join the Roman Catholic Church. Back then they didn't have the apostolic constitution or the Anglican ordinariates. There was the Anglican Use Pastoral Provision, but no such parishes existed in my area. I was forced to join the Church through the general Roman Rite, but I was glad to do so, because what I sought was unity through orthodoxy and Catholicism provided that. I was received into the Catholic Church on the Easter vigil of 2000.

For ten years I watched and waited, keeping my ear to the ground as to the developments of Rome's relation to Anglo-Catholics. Then in late 2009 it happened!  Pope Benedict XVI issued the apostolic constitution Anglicanorum Coetibus (or "Groups of Anglicans"). Oh, how I would have given anything for that document to have been issued ten years prior in 1999. Perhaps I could have had my cake and eaten it too. Perhaps I could have not only been received into the Catholic Church, but I could have brought my Episcopalian customs with me. For years I searched Catholic book stores for something comparable to the Book of Common Prayer that I could use for private devotion. In the end, I settled for the Book of Common Prayer, which I have kept on my dresser for years, and still use regularly for devotion. Actually I have two versions, the 1979 American edition, as well as the 1928 American edition. They sit right next to my Roman Missal - 1962 edition.

My reasons for leaving The Episcopal Church were significant but not uncommon. I was previously an Evangelical, but found myself on the Canterbury trail after reading the Church Fathers. I wanted to get in touch with Christianity's Catholic side. I figured The Episcopal Church would be a good "safe" environment for that to happen, for as a former Evangelical I still feared and distrusted the Roman Catholic Church.

After getting quite comfortable with the Anglo-Catholic way of doing things, my fear of Roman Catholicism subsided.  I started to become more aware of church politics within the The Episcopal Church. Back then we had been given "moral assurances" from Lambeth that a consecration of an openly homosexual bishop would never happen, and gay-marriages would not lawfully be condoned. However, as I began talking to fellow Episcopalians I came to realize the writing was on the wall. I predicted these "moral assurances" would crumble within a decade. Little did I know at the time, my prediction would come true within just four years. By then however, I was long gone, having reunited with Rome for the better.

I may have removed myself from Anglo-Catholicism, but I could never remove Anglo-Catholicism from me. There is still a big part of me that yearns for that high-church Anglo-Catholic worship, fiery homilies and old English hymns. I still use the Daily Office from the Book of Common Prayer, and occasionally use my Anglican prayer beads interchangeably with my Roman rosary. I insist on receiving the Eucharist on the tongue while kneeling, and while this is permitted in ALL Catholic masses, I find it is easier in the extraordinary-form Latin liturgy, which is why I usually attend mass there. In everything I have tried to be a good Catholic, still I can't help but remember how I got here. The Canterbury trail led me straight to the Tiber River. In those days a convert such as myself had to swim the Tiber to get to the other side. Thanks to the apostolic constitution Anglicanorum Coetibus, the pope has now built a bridge. Anglicans today just don't know how easy they've got it!

Today I'm looking forward to the future. A friend of mine is starting an Anglican Use group in my area, and I've been helping him with that. Perhaps someday we will have a new Anglican Catholic ordinariate parish in town. God willing.

What amazes me is how quickly all of the political rancor from my Anglican/Episcopalian days became a distant memory. Immediately after being received into the Catholic Church the debate about women clergy was over. The same went for homosexuality and militant feminist issues. Oh sure, the Catholic Church has it's problems, and I've discussed them at length on this blog. However, none of them threaten the survival of Catholicism for anyone interested in practicing it, and none of them have threatened to alter the Catholic Church beyond recognition. Today we quibble about such things as reverent liturgy, quality of catechesis, and wimpy bishops. That's about as bad as it gets. This isn't to say there aren't Catholics today who subscribe to the same nonsense going on in the Anglican Communion. They're are plenty. However, the nice thing about that is in the Catholic Church, they're very frustrated, having never gotten to first base with any of their so-called "reform" nonsense. The best they can hope for is a wimpy bishop who lets them get away with it at the local parish level. Thanks to the leadership of both Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI, they have never gotten it much further than that. For both Catholics and Anglicans the war against Modernism is a war of attrition. On the Anglican side it is the conservative traditionalists that are retiring while liberal modernists take over the church. On the Catholic side it's the exact opposite. Liberal modernists are going the way of the dinosaur, while most of the young seminarians today are orthodox and traditional. The pope is making advances every day into modernist strongholds, and it's actually gotten to the point where the liberals are about to break away from Rome. It's the only way they can survive for the few years they have left before retirement. I suspect if they actually do muster the courage to make the break, most of them will probably end up going over to the Anglican Communion.

This is what awaits you in the Catholic Church my Anglican brethren, for those of you willing to accept the teachings of the Catechism and join the ordinariates once they are erected. You will be united, but not absorbed. The battles for survival you so valiantly fought over the last three decades have been lost in the Anglican Communion and cannot flourish in the continuing Anglican bodies. However, they have not been lost in you. You are the embodiment of traditional Anglo-Catholicism. You are the successors of the Oxford Movement, and in you alone is the seed of Anglo-Catholic survival, but you can't survive under the persecution of liberal modernists in the Anglican Communion, nor in the obscurity of continuing Anglican bodies. The time has come to jump ship. A new ship awaits you now, in the ordinariates, and I cannot help but appeal to your good senses. Why do you stay within a Communion that will NEVER honor what you believe to be honorable? If you think the tradition of an all male priesthood is worth preserving, than why do you stay within a Church that seems to be determined to ordain as many female priests as possible, and consecrate female bishops once they make it legal. If you think the moral teaching against homosexuality is worth preserving, than why do you (American Episcopalians) stay in a national church that has consecrated two openly practicing homosexuals as bishops, and has permitted one of them to "marry" his gay partner, as well as ordained dozens upon dozens of gay and lesbian priests? As for the rest of you Anglicans, why do you stay within a communion that will tolerate this? The list of problems goes on, but I will not go any further into it here.

The best advice I can give you is to stop believing the lies. The officials within the Anglican Communion will give you plenty of lip service, but after all is said and done, they will betray you over and over again. I speak not on speculation, but on historical precedence. The officials in the continuing Anglican bodies are valiant souls, who have worked tirelessly to preserve the heritage of the Oxford Movement. God bless them for this! However, these brave men, for all their efforts, cannot provide the one thing continuing Anglicans need the most - mainstream visibility. For all their fantastic work, the continuing Anglican bodies will always be "breakaway groups," a mere rebuttal to mainstream Anglicanism, and never the mainstream itself. There are many Christians out there who have never even heard of "Traditional Anglicans" and most likely they never will. What Rome offers is an opportunity to turn the tables. It's a complete game changer. Once the ordinariates are erected they may be small at first, but they will grow, and they will grow rapidly. They have within them the structure and capacity to spread like a wildfire. For the first time in a long time, Anglican Catholic parishes will be able to reach out to more than just traditionally-minded Anglicans. They will also appeal to many Roman Catholics, and together they can focus on bringing the message of the apostolic faith to other Christians, and to the world.

In the thirty years since the creation of the Anglican Use Pastoral Provision, the few bishops in the United States, who have allowed the existence of such parishes within their diocese, have witnessed them grow and flourish. The model works! As small as it is, it really works! What Pope Benedict has done however is much more grand than the pastoral provision. The Holy Father has set up an episcopal structure, that will allow Anglican Catholic parishes to operate freely, unencumbered by the fears and hesitations of Roman Rite bishops. Parishes can be established anywhere, and they will be established EVERYWHERE! That is the inevitable outcome of Anglicanorum Coetibus.

So I appeal to all Anglicans, both within the Anglican Communion and outside it, to avail yourselves of the pope's offer. For you traditional Anglo-Catholics, there is one big difference between the Anglican Communion and the Catholic Church. Within the Anglican Communion they will only do the bare minimum it takes to keep you from leaving, and perhaps we could say that is only because they fear losing revenue. As it seems lately, some provinces (like the C of E for example) aren't even willing to do that. The Anglican Communion just tolerates you, and that's all.  Meanwhile, the Catholic Church actually WANTS you! We Catholics actually WANT to be in full communion with you, and we WANT you the way you are. We treasure your Anglo-Catholicism, and your conservative orthodox views. We actually want to nurture it and help you propagate it.

Please think it over. This doesn't have to be a tragic time anymore. Together we can turn it into something positive, historic and good. Together we can present a united front against the forces of liberal Modernism. Together we can actually fulfill the prayer of Christ "that they all may be one." What are you waiting for? How long do you think the Anglican Communion will tolerate you? Historic Anglicanism doesn't have to die. Let's work together in full-communion with Rome, and each other, to make sure it doesn't.

200 Church of England Priests to Enter Ordinariate

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT has learned that as many as 200 Anglo-Catholic priests within the Church of England (CofE) are seriously considering entry into the Anglican ordinariate to be created by Pope Benedict XVI. Seventy CofE priests met with a Roman Catholic bishop last Saturday (before the synod vote on Sunday) to discuss this very thing. Now that the CofE synod has voted (on Sunday) to consecrate women bishops, without any provision made for Anglo-Catholic traditionalists, it is sure to have galvanized the 200 already considering conversion, and perhaps bring in a couple hundred more who were straddling the fence.

The Anglican Rosary

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Anglican's availing themselves of the pope's new ordinariates will likely bring with them not only elements of their Anglo-Catholic liturgy, but some will bring with them their own personal devotions as well. While most Anglo-Catholics are partial to the traditional Dominican rosary, some have developed their own prayer bead devotion which mimics the Orthodox Jesus prayer rope. This is called the "Anglican Prayer Beads" or the "Anglican Chaplet." This Anglo-Catholic devotion uses a small chaplet containing four strands of seven beads (called "weeks") connected by larger cruciform beads. These connecting cruciform beads derive their name from the shape of the cross they make when the chaplet is spread out into a circle. The devotion is as follows...

I am sometimes asked if these Anglican chaplets are suitable for use among Roman Catholics. The answer of course is "yes" because it is a private devotion using prayers that are common in the Catholic Church anyway.

Church of England Disowns Traditional Anglo-Catholics

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: The Church of England today dispelled all doubt that it is thoroughly 100% Protestant...

(The Australian) - Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, the leader of the world's Anglicans, and Archbishop of York John Sentamu, his No 2 in the Church of England, had put forward safeguards for objectors.

They received the backing of a majority of the houses of bishops and laity of the General Synod, but the concessions did not win a majority of the House of Clergy, meaning that the proposals were lost.

The archbishops proposed a scheme where a male bishop would share the role and responsibilities of a female bishop, to cater for objectors.

The vote almost guarantees the success of the Anglican Ordinariate, the new body announced this year by the Pope to allow disaffected Anglicans to convert to Rome while retaining key aspects of Anglican heritage...

So another half baked idea by the Archdruid of Canterbury bites the dust, and as a result it now becomes perfectly clear Rowan Williams has lost control of not only the worldwide Anglican Communion, but of his own national province, the Church of England itself. Rome has made it clear, time and time again, that the consecration of female "bishops" will hamper ecumenical relations beyond repair. Rome has also made it clear that it will regard any Anglican church that does this as a totally Protestant organization without any connection to the historic Catholic faith. It's not just the pope who holds to this position, but every patriarch of every Orthodox Church as well. The Church of England is finished in the Catholic sense. It is now no better than the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States. Today it's female bishops. Tomorrow it's gay bishops. That seems to be the established pattern. Any traditional Anglo-Catholic who rejects the pope's ordinariate offer now is either insane or else hopelessly in denial. The message of this last synod is perfectly clear. The Church of England is moving ahead with it's liberal modernist agenda, traditionalists be dammed, and Anglo-Catholics had better either shut up and take it, or else get the hell out of the way!

Meanwhile the pope waits with open arms, ready to establish an ordinariate system that will FOREVER preserve the historic Anglo-Catholic patrimony, fully reunited with Rome but not absorbed into the Roman Rite. When you think about it, this all makes sense from a historical and spiritual perspective. Once called "Mary's Dowry" it is completely unnatural for English Christians to be separated from the Roman Catholic Church. Before the schism of 1534 Rome had always made special provision for the British Isles. The Sarum Use is one such example of this. It only makes sense for Rome to once again offer the same type of provisions it has always historically done, only this time on a much grander scale. The ordinariate plan is designed to last indefinitely. It is not only designed for a particular church, but for an entire communion of churches spanning the globe. It is in every sense a church within the Church, and it will be thoroughly Anglican as well as Catholic.

It is time for Anglo-Catholics within the Church of England, and around the world, to wake up and smell the coffee. The entire Christian world is under assault by the new value system of the modernist world, who's agents within our churches are hell bent on conforming Christianity to their modernist immorality. It begins subtly with the rejection of historic Christian standards (such as an all male priesthood) and once Christians have compromised on this by ordaining women, they move in with the real agenda. Sexual values are skewed. Fornication becomes a matter of "private conscience." Contraception and abortion become a "personal choice." Homosexuality becomes a matter of "genetic inheritance" and of course if that's the case, any discrimination against it becomes a form of "racism." Once the initial compromise is made, the downward spiral is inevitable. The ONLY WAY to combat this modernist agenda is for Christians to unite behind the barque of Peter as he navigates this storm at sea. If your raft is sinking, and he throws you a life line, why on earth would you say "no thanks?" God has just provided a way out, a means of living to fight another day, how will you answer His "why" should you decide to refuse it?

This is it England! In a spiritual sense, this is the Battle of Dunkirk. You can either get on the flotilla the pope has sent you, to survive and fight another day, or you can stay behind and face extinction from the unstoppable force taking over your national Church. What will it be England? The ball is now in your court, the choice is yours.

Obama Is Tyrant In the Making - Democrats Should Distance

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Recent trends in the Obama administration has left "The Catholic Knight" with the feeling that it won't be long before his blog is banned from the Internet. So while freedom of speech still exists in America (and it may not be long now before it's abridged) I might as well say what's on my mind.

President Barack Obama is a tyrant in the making. I know, I know, these are strong words. However, I can honestly say they are not politically motivated. I said something similar about President George W. Bush back in 2007 (see here). I would say, however, that Obama is moving along much quicker than Bush, taking leaps and strides our previous president could only dream of. I won't go into all the politics here; such as the takeover of healthcare and the banking industry, along with financial bailouts, refusing foreign aid in the oil spill, and authorizing the assassination of American citizens in America, etc. My main concern is with a few trends that go right to the core of what the American republic is supposed to be about - namely Article I of the Bill of Rights.

(Christianity Today) - "Freedom of worship" has recently replaced the phrase "freedom of religion" in public pronouncements from the Obama administration. Experts are concerned that the new rhetoric may signal a policy change.

"Freedom of worship" first appeared in President Obama's November remarks at the memorial service for the victims of the Fort Hood shooting. Days later, he referred to worship rather than religion in speeches in Japan and China.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton echoed the shift in language. In a December speech at Georgetown University, she used "freedom of worship" three times but "freedom of religion" not at all. While addressing senators in January, she referred to "freedom of worship" four times and "freedom of religion" once when quoting an earlier Obama speech.

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom noted the shift in its 2010 annual report. "This change in phraseology could well be viewed by human rights defenders and officials in other countries as having concrete policy implications," the report said.

Freedom of worship means the right to pray within the confines of a place of worship or to privately believe, said Nina Shea, director of the Center for Religious Freedom and member of the commission. "It excludes the right to raise your children in your faith; the right to have religious literature; the right to meet with co-religionists; the right to raise funds; the right to appoint or elect your religious leaders, and to carry out charitable activities, to evangelize, [and] to have religious education or seminary training."

On the surface this may not seem like such a big deal, but when combined with other policies of this administration related to freedom of speech it is deeply disturbing. When combined with Obama's obvious attempt to drive a wedge of schism into the U.S. Catholic Church by appointing only the most dissident Catholics to the highest offices in the land, it becomes painfully disturbing. This president is trying to redefine the boundaries of free speech and religion in America.

The Catholic Knight will endeavor to continue blogging as long as I remain free to do so in this country. For now it looks like freedom of speech will remain for the time being, but as soon as the first national disaster hits, there will be nothing stopping Obama from completely shutting down the Internet, and eventually reopening only those portions that his administration deems "appropriate." The Catholic Knight does not expect to be included on that list.

For now it seems the Democratic Party is in a suicide pact with the Obama administration. For now, it seems they will follow wherever he leads them, even if it's through the gates of Hell. The Democrats would be wise to distance themselves from Obama and his administration, but if they don't, let it forever be remembered that the party that gave us Barack Hussein Obama supported him all the way into tyranny.

It's Official - The USA Is In An Economic DEPRESSION

Runaway inflation will make this Depression worse than ever!

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: The downplaying and word games are finally over. The mainstream media is FINALLY admitting what many of us have known since October 2008. The United States of America has entered another Great Depression. Eighteen months later, July of 2010, there is still no end in sight....

(Telegraph) - Let us be honest. The US is still trapped in depression a full 18 months into zero interest rates, quantitative easing (QE), and fiscal stimulus that has pushed the budget deficit above 10pc of GDP.

The share of the US working-age population with jobs in June actually fell from 58.7pc to 58.5pc. This is the real stress indicator. The ratio was 63pc three years ago. Eight million jobs have been lost.

The average time needed to find a job has risen to a record 35.2 weeks. Nothing like this has been seen before in the post-war era. Jeff Weninger, of Harris Private Bank, said this compares with a peak of 21.2 weeks in the Volcker recession of the early 1980s.
"Legions of individuals have been left with stale skills, and little prospect of finding meaningful work, and benefits that are being exhausted. By our math the crop of people who are unemployed but not receiving a check amounts to 9.2m."

It gets worse than that. This Depression is just getting started. While conditions between now and 1930 are a bit different, the principles are the same. Welfare did not exist in 1930 and neither did food stamps. So we are left with the image of bread lines from the last Great Depression era. While we are not likely to see widespread images of a similar caliber in this era, a growing number of Americans will become destitute nonetheless as they grow ever more dependent on the assistance of the federal government and local charities...

(CNBC) - The Dow Jones Industrial Average is repeating a pattern that appeared just before markets fell during the Great Depression, Daryl Guppy, CEO at Guppytraders.com, told CNBC Monday.

“Those who don’t remember history are doomed to repeat it…there was a head and shoulders pattern that developed before the Depression in 1929, then with the recovery in 1930 we had another head and shoulders pattern that preceded a fall in the market, and in the current Dow situation we see an exact repeat of that environment,” Guppy said.

The Dow retreated 457.33 points, or 4.5 percent last week, to close at 9,686 Friday. Guppy said a Dow fall below 9,800 confirmed the head and shoulders pattern.

As bad as it is, the worst is yet to come. The Unites States WILL face something in this Depression it did not face in the last one. Due to increasing national debt, and the unrestrained printing of stimulus cash, Americans can look forward to runaway inflation to top it all off. As the value of the dollar declines, coupled with the fall of the markets, and the rise of unemployment, this Depression is poised to become one of the worst in American history, dwarfing the effects of the 1930's Great Depression. This will not only effect the United States, but world markets as well, putting the economic stability of the West in jeopardy.
